Blood pressure numbers measure the force of blood against artery walls. They are expressed as two values: systolic over diastolic (e.g., 120/80 mmHg). Normal blood pressure numbers are typically around 120/80 mmHg, whereas readings consistently above 140/90 mmHg may indicate hypertension, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
