Costochondritis
Costochondritis is the inflammation of cartilage connecting the ribs to the sternum, causing chest pain that may worsen with movement, coughing, or deep breathing. While costochondritis can mimic heart attack symptoms, it is non-cardiac and often results from trauma or repetitive strain such as from coughing. Treatment typically involves anti-inflammatory medications and rest.
