DMPK Gene
The DMPK gene encodes the dystrophia myotonica-protein kinase, primarily involved in muscle function. Mutations in the DMPK gene cause myotonic dystrophy type 1, a disorder affecting muscular and organ systems. DMPK gene abnormalities lead to the accumulation of toxic RNA, resulting in various clinical symptoms and progressive muscular degeneration.
