GLDC Gene
The GLDC gene is responsible for encoding the enzyme glycine decarboxylase, which is crucial in glycine catabolism. Mutations in the GLDC gene can lead to glycine encephalopathy, a disorder characterised by an excess of glycine in the brain and other tissues, resulting in severe neurological symptoms.
