GNE Myopathy
GNE myopathy is a rare genetic disorder characterised by muscle weakness and atrophy, primarily affecting the distal muscles. It typically begins in young adulthood and progresses slowly. GNE myopathy results from mutations in the GNE gene, impacting sialic acid production, essential for muscle function. There is currently no cure for GNE myopathy.
