Hiccups
Hiccups are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm, followed by a sudden closure of the vocal cords. This results in the characteristic “hic” sound. They are usually benign and short-lived, but persistent hiccups can indicate underlying health issues. Common causes of hiccups include overeating, carbonated drinks, and sudden temperature changes.
