SUOX Gene

The SUOX gene encodes the enzyme sulfite oxidase, essential for metabolising sulfur-containing amino acids. Mutations in the SUOX gene can lead to sulfite oxidase deficiency, a rare metabolic disorder characterised by neurological deterioration, severe developmental delay, and in some cases, early death. Proper diagnosis and management of SUOX gene mutations are crucial.
