What Is Dry Socket
Dry socket, medically known as alveolar osteitis, occurs when the blood clot at an extraction site dislodges or dissolves before healing. This painful condition exposes underlying nerves and bone, leading to severe discomfort. Common symptoms of dry socket include throbbing pain, bad breath, and an unpleasant taste in the mouth.
