Mr Evans completed basic surgical training in London and achieved MD from the University of London following research into colorectal cancer and minimally invasive surgery. He undertook higher surgical training in the Oxford Deanery following which he was selected for the National Ethicon Fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Surgery. He completed a further fellowship in complex colorectal surgery. Currently, Charles is the Head of the Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. He is a consultant Colorectal and General surgeon. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery performing robotic and laparoscopic surgery. Dr Sam Firoozi is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at St George’s Hospital in London. He graduated in 1995 from Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals Medical School and subsequently completed his medical and cardiology training in several London teaching hospitals. In 1999 he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Fellowship enabling clinical research into heart muscle disease and sports cardiology at St George’s University of London. Between 2002 and 2008, Dr Firoozi completed training in general and interventional cardiology, including an interventional cardiology fellowship at St George’s Hospital. This lead to his appointment as consultant general and interventional cardiologist in 2009. He has a special interest in high-risk coronary intervention and structural heart intervention, including TAVI. He has developed a very high-volume interventional practice and regularly consults a large number of patients. Dr Firoozi is also involved in higher medical education for undergraduate and postgraduate students and has run training courses. Konstantinos Savvatis is a Consultant Cardiologist in the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases Unit at Barts Heart Centre in London and Honorary Associate Professor in University College London and Queen Mary University London. He trained at the Department of Cardiology at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany, one of the largest centres in Europe focusing on dilated and inflammatory cardiomyopathy. He acquired his PhD on the immunomodulatory role of matrix metalloproteinases in acute myocarditis and continued working as Clinician Scientist at the Charité and the Centre for Regenerative Therapies focusing on the role of fibrosis and fibroblasts in heart failure and cardiomyopathy. His main clinical and academic interests are genetic and inflammatory cardiomyopathies and, especially, the risk assessment and therapy of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and cardiac involvement in Neuromuscular Conditions (limb girdle, Duchenne and Becker’s muscular dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy, Friedreich’s ataxia). He is specialised in advanced cardiovascular MRI and echocardiography. His work has been published in several high impact journals, such as Nature Communications, Circulation, Circulation Research, JACC and European Heart Journal.

Professor Giuseppe Kito Fusai

Professor Giuseppe Kito Fusai is a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeon in the Liver Units at the Royal Free Hospital and at The Wellington Hospital and is Professor of Surgery at University College London (UCL). After qualifying at the University of Milan in 1987 and obtaining a Master of Surgery from the University of Parma in 1992, he moved to the UK in 1995 and in 1996 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He specialised in HPB surgery and Liver Transplant and since 1999 has worked in several centres of excellence including King’s College Hospital in London and Nagoya University Hospital in Japan. Professor Fusai’s primary clinical and academic interest is in pancreatic cancer, liver metastases and cholangiocarcinoma and in the modalities to treat patients with advanced disease including vascular reconstruction. He is highly trained in Hepato-pancreato-biliary, general and laparoscopic surgery including the treatment of benign conditions such as gallstones and pancreatitis, He has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and he is a member of various societies and committees, including the European Association of HPB surgery (E-AHPBA), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the European Surgical Association (ESA) and the International Study Group for Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS). He is the President of the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSoGB) and in 2010 he founded Fiorina, a charitable fund for the treatment of pancreatic cancer which supports several clinical and research projects.

Mr Sayasneh is Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon. His main clinical and research interest is gynaecological surgery and ultrasonography. He has obtained his Doctorate of Medicine MD(Res) degree in gynaecological ultrasonography from Imperial College London.
