Dorset Private GP Dorchester

Dr Tim Alder

Tim has spent 24 years practising as an NHS GP in the Dorset area and 20 years as a partner at Poole Road Medical Centre. He enjoys clinical medicine and family practice, but does feel constrained by the limits of NHS general practice. Tim founded Dorset Private GP along with Dr Jon Echebarrieta and Steve Middleton in 2017. He believes in giving a better service to patients through longer appointments and continuity of care. Special interests include both paediatric medicine as well as the care of the frail elderly. He has a wide experience of HIV in primary care.

Dr Jon Echebarrieta

Jon has been an NHS partner at Poole Road Medical Centre for 17 of his 30 years practising as a doctor. His skills in surgery were honed during his time studying cardio-thoracic surgery in North London, and he performs minor surgery removing lumps and bumps for Dorset Private GP. He is happy to discuss the removal of any cosmetic lesions or those causing concern.

Dr Lucy Johnson

Lucy qualified from Imperial College London in 2010 achieving BSc Honors in Neuroscience and Mental Health, Merit in Psychiatry and Distinction in Surgery. She then went on to train on the Isle of Wight and has been a GP since 2015. She holds dual membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians. She has a special interest in Neurology (Migraine, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis), and in Elderly Age Mental Health (Dementia).

Dr Zara Mufti

Zara studied at Liverpool University in 2008 and has worked in various areas in the country and medical specialities before qualifying as a GP in 2016. She then moved back to her home county of Dorset and has worked locally ever since. She enjoys the variety and challenge that a career in General Practice offers. She splits her working life between her usual NHS GP surgery, the urgent treatment centre and out of hours service and Dorset Private GP.

Dr Rosemary Crinion

Rosemary graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998 and moved to Poole in 2001 to work as a GP. She is enthusiastic about all aspects of medicine and offers patients a holistic approach to their care. Her specialist interests include, Family Planning, Women’s Health, Sports Medicine, Dermatology and Geriatrics. She is our Women’s Health lead at the clinic, inserting coils and implants as needed. Outside of work she is a keen sailor, runner and sea swimmer.

Dr Sumit Aggarwal

Sumit qualified in India in 1999 and completed GP training at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. He has been an NHS GP in Dorset for the last 14 years, gaining a wide range of experience in all areas of General Practice. After moving to Poole few years ago, he has developed a portfolio career across Primary care, Dermatology, Aesthetic medicine and No Scalpel Vasectomy. He is an experienced No Scalpel Vasectomist with over 1,200 surgeries under his belt. Outside work, Sumit is a keen gardener, practises yoga and likes to watch cricket.

Dr Carrie Stead

Carrie completed her medical degree at Imperial College, London, in 2006. She has lived in Dorset since then and completed her GP training in Poole. She works as a GP partner in the NHS in addition to her private work. Her interests include Paediatrics and Womens Health and has specialist training in both. She thoroughly enjoys being a GP, likes to take time to get to know her patients and practices up to date evidenced based medicine. Outside of work Carrie is kept very busy by her three young children and enjoys going to the beach.

Dr Mehrdad Bordbar

Mehrdad is our doctor based at The Poundbury Clinic in Dorchester and he graduated from the University of Southampton in 2014 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) and a Masters in Medical Sciences (MMedSc). He then returned to Dorset to complete his training at Poole Hospital and Dorset County Hospital. Mehrdad has also gone on to complete further specialist training in Western Medical Acupuncture and received his certification from the prestigious British Medical Acupuncture Society in London. He lives with his wife, daughter and their Shetland Sheepdog Casper.
