Dr Jennifer Smith
BA (Hons) MBChB DRCOG DFSRH LoC IUT/SDI MRCGP Offers appointments in Chester After completing her first degree in Psychology, Jennifer later went on to complete a medical degree in Manchester in 2008. Her interest lay in Women’s Health in particular and after basic postgraduate training, Jennifer moved to London to gain experience working in sexual and reproductive health. She spent 6 years in London, working in all aspects of sexual health, contraception, LARC provision and gynaecology. Jennifer also spent 5 of these years working for the Metropolitan Police as a sexual offences examiner and really loved being able to look after and support women in acutely vulnerable circumstances. Jennifer then decided to train as a GP after this experience so she could broaden her knowledge and practice and provide a holistic aspect to care. She currently practices as a GP in Liverpool after moving there for her GP training and to be nearer to her family. Jennifer has found that developing her interest in looking after women in all stages of life has been a natural progression and is very happy to be doing this with Newson Health. Outside of work Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends and thinking of new ways to make her home pretty – all the things most people do! You can see Jennifer at our Chester clinic for an in person appointment. GMC number 7017283

Dr Amen Soin
MBChB DFFP MRCGP FRACGP Offers appointments in Chester Amen grew up in Cheltenham before moving to the North West where she completed her undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. Her lifelong passion for Women’s Health fuelled her to achieving her Diploma in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care in 2002 and in gaining additional training and experience in managing Women’s Health issues in a community setting, including the insertion of IUDs and hormonal implants. This wide range of experience has allowed her to provide patients with more options for contraception, and in the management of menstrual disorders and menopause. As well as her experience working in the NHS, she spent 11 years working as a GP with a special interest in Women’s Health in Sydney, Australia. There, she gained further accreditation to provide shared antenatal care, managing pregnancies in combination with the local public hospital, and experience in aesthetic treatments for her patients. She regularly participated in the New South Wales Health “GP in schools” program, helping to support and educate high school students on all aspects of their health. She undertook additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for General Practice, allowing her to provide more formal focused psychological strategies to support her patients and, in 2016, was also the team doctor for the Australian Youth Climbing team at the Youth World Championships in China. Amen is passionate about health promotion and disease prevention, and in enabling patients to take control of their own health through a holistic approach. She feels strongly about equipping women with the knowledge to help them live well, not only in their reproductive years but beyond. Outside of her work, she enjoys running, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is a proud mum of three, twin daughters and a son, plus an exuberant Cavapoo called Maisie.
