Mr Peter Rimington

Mr Peter D Rimington is a Consultant Urologist at Eastbourne District General Hospital, from 2000 to the present. Since 2000 Mr Rimington has provided minimal access surgery at Eastbourne District General Hospital and developed the urology service at the hospital to provide oncologic care for all urologic cancers for the entire county of Sussex as well as Eastern Kent. The hospital is now recognised as the urology cancer centre for the region. With his extensive experience of minimal access surgery, Mr Rimington has a unique insight into the physiology, surgical practice and patterns of post-operative recovery of these procedures and can use this knowledge to assess medical practice.

Colorectal surgery includes major cancer resection, inflammatory bowel disease, prolapse surgery, sphincter repair and full range of haemorrhoid treatment. Upper and lower GI Endoscopy. Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Colorectal Surgery. Sub-specialty expertise in rectal cancer surgery, but wide experience of colorectal cancer in general. 25 year experience of colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy with very high completion rates, polyp detection and management, and very low complication rate. Expertise in rectal prolapse repair. Out-patient and operative management of haemorrhoids. Very large experience of wide range of hernias, particularly inguinal, and more advanced incisional hernia repairs including abdominal wall reconstruction.

Mr Raj Harshen

Mr Raj Harshen is a leading consultant general surgeon and an accredited specialist in colorectal surgery based in Hastings and Eastbourne. He sees patients privately at the Spire Sussex Hospital. Mr Harshen specialises in laparoscopic colorectal cancer resections, inflammatory bowel diseases, pelvic floor disorders, proctological disorders, colonoscopy, gastroscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy. Since becoming a consultant, Mr Harshen has achieved excellent results for his patients. He has extensive experience with a range of surgical techniques and has performed over 600 cancer resections and 250 endoscopic procedures every year with a very high success rate. He is also the clinical lead for general surgery at the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and was previously the lead clinician on a project implementing the latest diagnostic testing for colorectal cancer detection.

Dr David Neal

Dr Neal has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist since 2004. After graduating from the University of Southampton where he was awarded the Altounyan prize for best undergraduate research, he undertook his specialist training in Ipswich, Norwich and Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He is the clinical lead for nutrition in Eastbourne. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, dyspepsia, gastro-oesophageal reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, clinical nutrition and diseases of the liver and pancreas. During his clinical career Dr Neal has undertaken over 10,000 endoscopic procedures and is a highly experienced Endoscopist, undertaking endoscopic procedures regularly every week. As well as undertaking outpatient clinics and endoscopy at the Nuffield Hospital in Brighton he sees outpatients in Eastbourne as well. Dr Neal is a member of the Regional Training Committee for specialist registrars in gastroenterology across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Dr Rick Veasey

Dr Veasey is qualified in General Cardiology and has a subspecialty interest in Advanced Rhythm Management – ablation / electrophysiology / both simple and complex pacemakers and ICDs (implanted defibrillators), performing in excess of 400 procedures per year. He completed his training in the South-East of England at a number of centres including Kings College Hospital and the Royal Sussex County Hospital. He was appointed as a consultant in 2014 with East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and works primarily at Eastbourne District General Hospital to provide an electrophysiology service for the Trust. He undertakes a complex device list and outpatient clinic at the Conquest Hospital and holds an honorary consultant post at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
