BSc (Hons) MB ChB MD FRCS (Urol) Ms Fiona McCaig is a highly respected consultant urological and renal transplant surgeon based in London. She is renowned for her expertise in urinary tract infection (UTI), urinary incontinence and urodynamic testing and also specialises in haematuria (blood in urine) and bladder cancer. Ms McCaig qualified in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 2001 and following further training, became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. She has additionally completed a year long fellowship in urological and renal transplant surgery at the revered Hôpital Necker in Paris, France, where the world’s first kidney transplant took place in 1952. Ms McCaig’s extensive academic publications appear in esteemed peer reviewed journals. She is an editor for the Journal of Clinical Urology and a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.

BMedSci, MBBS, MRCP, MD (Res) Dr Durayd Alzoubaidi has expertise in gastroenterology and endoscopy and trained at Barts and the London school of medicine and completed his gastroenterology training in Cambridge and London. Mr Alzoubaidi has completed a prestigious three year post graduate research degree at University College London (UCL), studying new innovations in endoscopic therapy for gastrointestinal bleeding and cancer and has a special interest and expertise in the management and treatment of patients with acid reflux, dyspepsia, abdominal pain and barrett’s oesophagus. He also sees patients with diarrhoea, constipation, weight loss, iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His current research involvements include the international hemospray registry analysing novel haemostatic modality in the management of gastrointestinal bleeding. He has personally presented outcomes from this research in several major international conferences and has resulted in multiple publications in peer reviewed medical journals. In addition, he is currently working on the development of a risk stratification modality to identify patients at high risk of developing cancer in the upper gastrointestinal tract.

BM MD FRCOPHTH Mr Riaz Asaria qualified from Southampton University in 1989 and began his specialist ophthalmology training in 1992, specialising in Retinal Disease. He was awarded the June Sutor Research fellowship in 1997 at Moorfields Eye Hospital, followed by a Medical and surgical at Moorfields and at Bristol Eye Hospital. He was awarded the Gold Medal for his research. He has been working as a consultant at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust since 2005, He has developed an active research team and leads the research for ophthalmology at the Royal Free site. He is also the lead for undergraduate ophthalmology teaching at UCL Medical school and is an associate professor. He is actively involved in humanitarian work and has helped set up surgical retina services in Iraq and other countries. He sees this part of his professional career as being both rewarding and very humbling. He specialises in retinal disease, cataract, general ophthalmology, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and vein occlusions.

MCH(ORTH), FRCS(ORTH) Mr Bajekal attended medical school in JIPMER, Pondicherry and completed his MS in Orthopaedics at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Following his studies in India, Mr Rajiv relocated to the UK and worked in Norwich as a surgical trainee for the Royal Free London NHS Trust on rotation as a Registrar/Senior Registrar. He then completed his MCh from Liverpool and obtained a Consultant post with Doncaster/Bassetlaw NHS Trust in 1998. From there, he left to pursue his current post at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Rajiv is a Senior Examiner for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He also lectures on a range of orthopaedic and spinal topics nationally and internationally. He has published widely and written chapters in various Orthopaedic books. Mr Bajekal has a special interest in sciatica and back pain. He has developed a pragmatic approach to managing back pain and sciatica with non-surgical techniques, injections and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He regularly performs discectomy, decompressions and spinal fusions by minimally invasive techniques. Recently, Mr Rajiv completed a new degree in Lifestyle Medicine from the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

MB BS FRCR FRCP Professor Jocelyn Brookes is a consultant radiologist with a special interest in vascular disease at the Royal Free Hospital. He qualified in Medicine and Surgery at The Middlesex Hospital, 1986 and achieved MRCP after post-graduate rotations in Guys Hospital and Oxford Hospitals (1991). After further post-graduate training in Radiology (1992-7) he was appointed Consultant at UCH (UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London NW1) in 1998, leading the Vascular interventional service. As a Consultant, Prof Brookes introduced laser treatment for varicose veins to the UK (2001) after training in Buenos Ares and New York with Rob MIn and recently sat on the GDG of the current NICE guidelines for Varicose Veins. Prof Brookes established Uterine Artery Embolisation for fibroids with UCH Gynaecologists (J Iskaros and E Saridogan, also of the Portland). Prof Brookes represents UCLH (UK) as part of a multicentre European study of the treatment of Intra-uterine Growth Retardation. He has an established independent Radiology and Vascular private practice since 2003 and is currently a lead clinician for Vascular malformations (AVM), based at Royal Free Hospital London

MBBS BSC MD FRCS(ENG) Jason Constantinou is a consultant vascular surgeon who trained in London. He specialises in both open surgical and endovascular techniques (keyhole) to treat a wide range of vascular problems including aortic aneurysms, varicose veins, blocked arteries in the leg, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), leg ulcers and carotid disease (to prevent strokes). His research interests include endovascular stenting of aortic aneurysms and he has presented and published widely in this field.

MD, PhD, MRCP(UK) Dr Nikos Diamantis is a Medical Oncology Consultant at Royal Free Hospital specialising in colorectal, oesphageal, gastric, pancreatic, liver and bile duct cancers, and Neuroendocrine tumours. He is the Royal Free Clinical Lead for Colorectal cancer Dr Diamantis underwent specialist training at the Imperial College Healthcare Hammersmith, St Mary's and Harefield Hospitals. He was awarded the Greek national Oncology fellowship scholarship and went on to conduct clinical research for 2 years at the Drug Development Unit of the Royal Marsden.

MBBS, M.S.(ORTH), MRCS ED, FRCS (TR.&ORTH) Mr Dudhniwala is a fellowship-trained spinal surgeon with trauma and orthopaedic surgery training from the Welsh orthopaedic rotation and postgraduate orthopaedic training from Mumbai. His elective practise primarily involves treatment of degenerative spinal conditions of cervical and lumbar spine with minimally invasive techniques. Mr Dudhniwala’s NHS practice is based at Royal Free London NHS Trust, where besides spinal surgery he is also involved in the provision of orthopaedic trauma (fracture) care. MB BCH BAO (HONS) LRCSI LRCPI MRCPI DIC PHD FRCPI Dr Dupont qualified from the RCSI Medical School, Dublin in 1993. He trained in Nephrology on the North Thames specialty training scheme and completed a PhD in transplantation immunology at Imperial College London, Hammersmith Hospital in 2005. He was appointed Consultant Nephrologist/Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital, London in 2006 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland in 2008. He is dual accredited in Renal and General Internal Medicine. Dr Dupont has a subspecialty interest in renal transplantation including pre-transplant assessment, infectious complications of transplantation and management of chronic allograft dysfunction. He is principal investigator for a number of clinical trials in renal transplantation. Dr Dupont is member of the Renal Association, British Transplantation Society and the London Transplant Research Network. Dr Dupont’s NHS practice encompasses all aspects of general nephrology including investigation and management of acute and acute and chronic kidney disease along with difficult hypertension.

MD FRCOphth Mr Elhousseini has been working in NHS top eye departments around London for many years and has oversees experience. He is currently an Ophthalmology Consultant Surgeon at Royal Free Hospital which is one of the largest providers for healthcare in London. Professor Giuseppe Kito Fusai

Professor Giuseppe Kito Fusai is a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeon in the Liver Units at the Royal Free Hospital and at The Wellington Hospital and is Professor of Surgery at University College London (UCL). After qualifying at the University of Milan in 1987 and obtaining a Master of Surgery from the University of Parma in 1992, he moved to the UK in 1995 and in 1996 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He specialised in HPB surgery and Liver Transplant and since 1999 has worked in several centres of excellence including King’s College Hospital in London and Nagoya University Hospital in Japan. Professor Fusai’s primary clinical and academic interest is in pancreatic cancer, liver metastases and cholangiocarcinoma and in the modalities to treat patients with advanced disease including vascular reconstruction. He is highly trained in Hepato-pancreato-biliary, general and laparoscopic surgery including the treatment of benign conditions such as gallstones and pancreatitis, He has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and he is a member of various societies and committees, including the European Association of HPB surgery (E-AHPBA), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the European Surgical Association (ESA) and the International Study Group for Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS). He is the President of the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSoGB) and in 2010 he founded Fiorina, a charitable fund for the treatment of pancreatic cancer which supports several clinical and research projects.

M.S, FRCS (EDIN), FRCS (INTERCOLLRGIATE), FEBS (BREAST), FEBS (SURGICAL ONCOLOGY) Debashis Ghosh is one of London’s prestigious breast surgeons. He works from the Royal Free Hospital in London and UCL Medical School which houses one of the worlds foremost breast units. Mr Ghosh graduated from Grant Medical College, Bombay University, India in 1991 with an MBBS (1st class honours). His Higher Specialist Training was completed in Breast & Oncoplastic Surgery at University Hospitals of Leicester, Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge & Peterborough. MA MRCP PHD Dr Roopinder Gillmore received her first degree from the University of Cambridge and subsequently qualified as a doctor from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School. She carried out her oncology training and has worked in various cancer hospitals including the Royal Marsden Hospital, the Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals, UCLH and the Royal Free Hospital. She completed her PhD at Imperial College London under the supervision of Prof Hans Stauss. Her research focused on analysing immune responses in patients with solid cancers to determine processes by which patients’ immune responses develop an inability to recognise and kill cancer cells – with a view to developing immune-based treatments for cancer patients. She joined the Royal Free hospital as a consultant in 2009 and established the cancer of unknown primary Service (CUP) which received excellent feedback following national peer review. The CUP service reviews all patients who have scans demonstrating evidence of metastatic cancer in the absence of a definite primary, the aim of the service is to help investigate patients appropriately ensuring this is carried out in a timely manner. She continues to be the trust lead for the cancer of unknown primary service and chairs the weekly cancer of unknown primary multi-disciplinary meeting. The Royal Free Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for pancreato-biliary cancers for North Central London and hosts the weekly specialist MDT. As well as the CUP service, Dr Gillmore is the trust medical oncology lead for pancreas and biliary tract cancers and as such, attends the weekly pancreato-biliary multidisciplinary meeting. She specialises in providing systemic anti-cancer treatments for these cancers. Dr Gillmore is a member of the North Central London expert reference groups for acute oncology and cancer of unknown primary, pancreato-biliary cancer as well the chemotherapy group

MBCHB, BSC, FRCA Dr Gubbay is a Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthesia at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals, working across site at Royal Free, Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware Hospitals. He graduated from Leeds University Medical School in 2001 with degrees in medicine and psychology in relation to medicine. He completed his postgraduate training in Anaesthesia and Critical Care through the Central London School of Anaesthesia, followed by his postgraduate training in pain medicine at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. During his training, Dr Gubbay also undertook two years of research at the Royal Marsden where he developed an interest in cancer pain. Dr Gubbay offers both a scientific and holistic approach to your suffering from pain, whatever the cause. From reviewing your pain medication and giving advice on how to minimize side effects, to his comprehensive rehabilitation skills and interventional procedures to facilitate reintegration, he delivers a high standard of care that is both individualised and patient-centred, essential for effective pain management. His ultimate goal is to improve your quality and enjoyment of life whilst supporting the management of your pain. He has had over 15 years of Anaesthetic experience. His interests include Difficult Airway Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia and Day Case surgery. He regards patient safety as paramount. Dr Gubbay is proficient in several interventional pain procedures including epidurals, nerve root blocks, medial branch blocks, and trigger point injections. He has exceptional skills in the use of ultrasound for procedures ensuring a wide range of techniques. He is also a keen acupuncturist. Dr Gubbay is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists UK, a member of British Pain Society, and a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society. Dr Gubbay specialises in managing a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions. These incorporate chronic head and neck pains including whiplash injuries, spine and musculoskeletal pain including rotator cuff injuries and leg pain from sciatica, abdominal pain, and pelvic and abdominal visceral pain. He also has an interest in nerve pain, phantom pain, trigeminal neuralgia, pain after shingles and CRPS. From his research experience, Dr Gubbay has interest in cancer pain and opioids rationalisation for non-malignant pain. Through his passion for education, Dr Gubbay is the clinical supervisor for anaesthetic trainees undertaking their pain modules, whilst being actively involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching. He also lectures locally, nationally and internationally and has been published widely in anaesthesia and pain journals. Dr Gubbay enjoys spending his leisure time with his large family. His other interests include photography and music.

MBBS, MS, DNB, MRCS, MCh, MPhil (Cantab), FEBS (transplant surgery), FRCS Mr Satheesh Iype is an experienced consultant surgeon in HPB surgery (surgery of the liver and the pancreas) and liver transplantation based at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, London. Mr Iype has over 15 years’ experience in this speciality, dealing with both cancer and non-cancerous conditions affecting the gallbladder, liver, bile duct and pancreas. He routinely performs complex surgical procedures for liver and pancreatic cancer. General surgical procedures for groin hernia, incisional hernia and abdominal wall swellings are also part of his routine practice. Mr Iype qualified in 1997 at Mahatma Gandhi University, India. After obtaining his postgraduate training in surgery in India, he did specialist surgical training in the East of England region, mainly based at Cambridge. He was awarded M Phil from University of Cambridge in transplant surgery and has also been awarded the European fellowship in transplant surgery. He pursued further training by completing fellowships in HPB and liver transplant surgery in various prestigious units such as Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge; Heidelberg, Germany and Asan Medical Centre, Seoul. He also underwent training and practised live donor liver transplant in India. Mr Iype’s expertise includes laparoscopic surgery of the gall bladder, liver and pancreas. He regularly treats patients with benign conditions affecting the pancreas such as acute pancreatitis, chronic calcific pancreatitis and pancreatic cysts. An active researcher in the liver transplantation field, he has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and contributed to book chapters. His area of special interest in research and development is live donor transplantation and machine perfusion to improve the quality of liver transplantation. He is currently involved in several research projects involving machine perfusion in liver transplantation. He is on the faculty of the University College of London for undergraduate medical education.

MBBS MD FRCS (PLAST) Mr Kang is a consultant plastic surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital. He graduated from Charing Cross and Wesminster Medical School (now part of Imperial College) in 1989 and undertook basic surgical training in Washington DC and Leeds. He trained in plastic surgery in London including fellowships in the peripheral nerve injury unit in Stanmore. He was appointed as a consultant in 2002 and has specific interests in all aspects of hand surgery, prosthetic reconstruction and prominent ear correction. He has been performing bone-anchor surgery since 2005 an has an active research interest in this and allied areas, such as targeted muscle reinnervation surgery. He is a founder member of Relimb.

MBBS FRCOphth PgCClinEd FHEA thalmic Plastic Surgeon Dr Nick Koutroumanos is a leading Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon who currently sees patients at the Royal Free London - Private Patients Unit. He has developed special expertise in adult and paediatric Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Eyelid, Orbital and Lacrimal Surgery with a particular interest in the patient-oriented and personalised, natural rehabilitation of the eyes in both functional and aesthetic surgery. About Dr Steven Mann Dr Mann completed his postgraduate training in North London hospitals, which included research years at St Mark’s Hospital and he was appointed to his current position as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 2003 at Barnet Hospital. He serves the UCL as the Lead for undergraduate urological teaching and has been a principal investigator for multi-centre clinical trials. He completed his urological training on the six-year higher surgical rotational training programme in London including the last two years as a fellow in Female & Reconstructive Urology at the prestigious Institute of Urology at UCLH, London. In his clinical practice, he looks after patients with urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, UTIs, BPH, haematuria, bladder cancer and peno-scrotal problems. MBBS, MRCOG, DFFP, DIPLOMA OF OPERATIVE ENDOSCOPY IN Consultant Obstetrician And Gynaecologist Ms Mohiudin has trained in high-risk obstetrics and Gynaecology in the largest tertiary hospitals in London. BSC (HONS) MBCHB PHD FRCP (EDIN) Dr Shabbir Moochhala is a consultant Nephrologist and Physician at the Royal Free Hospital. He has twelve years experience of consultant practice at the Royal Free covering all aspects of kidney disease, including acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, transplantation and all forms of dialysis. Dr Moochhala is one of very few nephrologists in specialist centres who also maintains a general medical practice. This means that he is consulted by patients with a wide variety of medical and kidney problems. Dr Moochhala also sees patients with multi-system problems or where the specialty is unclear. He always tries to address all of his patients’ medical issues and not just the kidney ones. He has specialist expertise in rare diseases, and is Principal Investigator at the Royal Free for a number of international medical trials on rare kidney stone disease. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of rare kidney conditions, renal tubular and electrolyte disorders, hypertensive disorders and Fabry disease. Of course, to be able to detect and treat rare diseases, an excellent knowledge of common diseases is also required, and Dr Moochhala has wide experience of general medicine and renal medicine over his consultant practice at multiple locations in north London.

MB BS FRCP BSC PH.D As a hepatolologist, Professor Moore sees patients with a wide range of liver diseases. He has a strong background in all aspects of general hepatology including alcohol misuse disorders, fatty liver disease as well as experience of looking after liver transplant patients. Professor Moore trained at King’s College London. He has a BSc and PhD in biochemistry. He is in on the Specialist register for gastroenterology but only sees patients with Liver Disorders. He was initially appointed as an MRC Senior Clinical Fellow, before becoming Professor of Hepatology. He worked on the liver transplant rota for 20 years, caring for patients before and after liver transplantation. He now leads the Alcohol Care Team at the Royal Free Foundation NHS Trust, as well as seeing patients with undiagnosed liver disease. He is also on the specialist register for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, as well as General Internal Medicine. As a general physician he is happy to see patients from any speciality to review or discuss their medication, or to see patients with unusual drug metabolism or side effects

His plastic surgery training was undertaken in some of the most esteemed hospitals in both London and New York City. Professor Mosahebi is the Head of the one the largest plastic surgery teaching units at Royal Free Hospital. He is also the Deputy Editor of the prestigious Plastic Surgery Journal (JPRAS). He is a Council member for the Royal Society of Medicine and British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgeons, as well as being a member of the research committee for the British association of Plastic surgeons.
