CONSULTANT OPHTHALMOLOGIST

MR ANDY MORRIS

Mr Andy Morris is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and has extensive ophthalmic experience, with a special interest in Phacoemulsification and Vitreoretinal surgery. Mr Andy Morris specialises in vitreoretinal and cataract surgery and within The Clinic @ 78 can offer YAG & SLT laser therapy for glaucoma and post-cataract capsulotomy as well as intra-ocular injections, such as anti-VEGF, for a wide range of conditions.

CONSULTANT UROLOGIST

MR JAMES DOUGLAS

Mr James Douglas is a Consultant Urologist at University Hospital Southampton, having qualified from the University of London. His primary interest is in urological oncology, including complex pelvic cancer surgery, RPLND, and open nephrectomy. As part of his training, he undertook a specialist fellowship in urological oncology at the Vancouver Prostate Centre & the University of British Columbia. Within The Clinic @ 78, he can manage patients with general urological conditions, including erectile dysfunction and male menopause.

CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST & ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST

DR RICHARD BALA

Dr Richard Bala is a Consultant Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist and Clinical Lead for Cardiac Rhythm Management at University Hospitals Dorset. He is the Wessex Cardiovascular Lead for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). His area of expertise lies in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart rhythm problems such as atrial fibrillation. He trained in Cardiology at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, where he completed his PhD before pursuing a fellowship in Cardiac Rhythm Management under Professor Jonathan Kalman at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. He specialises in the investigation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and performs catheter ablation of all forms of cardiac arrhythmias using radiofrequency, cryoablation (freezing balloon) and pulsed field ablation (PFA) technologies. His areas of particular expertise lie in the ablation of atrial fibrillation, complex atrial arrhythmias and atrial tachycardia using 3D mapping techniques. He is also an experienced implanter of pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation or biventricular devices and was the first implanter of MRI-safe pacemakers in the south of England.

Dr Rachel Robinson qualified from Southampton University and is a GP Partner in Bournemouth. As well as being an experienced General Practitioner, Rachel has an interest and expertise in Women’s Health and Contraception and can offer coils, implants and smears within the clinic. She has worked in the NHS for over 10 years.

Dr Liz Williams is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Poole Hospital and qualified from Southampton University. Her clinical training in General Medicine and Gastroenterology was based in Southampton and South West England. She undertook a doctorate on liver disease, which is one of her special interests.

CONSULTANT RADIOLOGIST

DR RAVI AYER

Dr Ravi Ayer is an experienced radiologist for the diagnosis, treatment and screening of both traumatic and non-traumatic musculoskeletal conditions. His expertise covers musculoskeletal trauma, fractures and soft tissue injury; spinal trauma; bone and soft tissue cancer; sports injury; musculoskeletal infection; degenerative musculoskeletal disease; rheumatological disease. He is highly experienced in all modalities of imaging, performing in-house ultrasound scanning for all systems at the Clinic @ 78, as well as reporting X-Ray, CT & MRI for our patients. He uses Fluoroscopy and Arthrography as well. Aside from his private practice at The Clinic @ 78, Dr Ravi Ayer has been a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Poole Hospital NHS Trust since 2012.

CONSULTANT DERMATOLOGIST

DR JAMES HICKEY

Dr James Hickey is a Consultant Dermatologist. He specialises in skin cancer and has considerable expertise in mole checks, benign lesion removal, and skin cancer surgery. His other area of interest is the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. After qualifying from the University of London, his Dermatology training was undertaken at several specialist sites, including St Johns Institute of Dermatology and the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Within The Clinic @ 78, Dr James Hickey offers a full range of skin lesion biopsy and removal in our dedicated minor operations room.

CONSULTANT OBSTETRICIAN & GYNAECOLOGIST

MR TYRONE CARPENTER

Mr Tyrone Carpenter is a Consultant Gynaecologist at University Hospitals Dorset and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Southampton University. He qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School. Mr Carpenter treats most gynaecological conditions including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain and endometriosis, ovarian cysts, primary prolapse. He does not treat gynaecological cancers or abnormal smears. As well as undertaking all routine gynaecological procedures he has special expertise in Minimal Access Surgery (Keyhole surgery). He is the senior gynaecologist for minimal access surgery in Poole, as well as running the Dorset Endometriosis Centre.

Dr Rob Graham qualified from Southampton University and is an experienced GP partner. His clinical interests include General (Internal) Medicine, dermatology, medical aesthetics, and men’s health. Dr Rob Graham is an experienced NHS General Practitioner (GP) at a large Practice in Bournemouth, having trained locally in General Internal Medicine, covering cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, oncology and Medicine for the Elderly. He uses this broad background knowledge to see the patient as an individual and tailor treatment to their specific needs.

GENERAL PRACTITIONER, MENOPAUSE SPECIALIST & REGISTERED MANAGER

DR EMILY MONKS

Emily graduated from the University College Dublin in 2004. After initial training in hospital medicine, including Endocrinology and Elderly Care, and a move to England, she qualified as a GP in 2012. During her GP training, she developed an interest in Mental Health and Women’s Health, completing the Diploma in Medicine for the Elderly (DME), Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH), Obstetrics & Gynaecology (DRCOG). She is trained in the fitting and removal of contraceptive implants. She has significant experience in General Practice, having worked in local NHS practices for over 10 years. Emily is passionate about providing holistic care to patients. She places significant importance on listening to the individual patient and working together to address concerns. She values continuity of care very highly. She has seen the impact of menopause on her patients and the difference a personalised consultation and treatment plan can make to quality of life. This inspired her to pursue further training in menopause care.

DR TOM CAUDELL

Dr Tom Caudell qualified from the University of Southampton and is an experienced General Practitioner (GP) in Bournemouth. He undertakes his NHS practice as a GP Principal and Partner at a large teaching practice: Talbot Medical Centre, where he also trains medical students and junior doctors. In addition to providing general GP services, Tom has special interests in musculoskeletal medicine, skin surgery, and aesthetics. These are all offered in-house, including Morpheus8 non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

PROFESSOR TAS QURESHI

Professor Tas Qureshi is a Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Poole Hospital. He qualified from King’s College London and is a national and international trainer in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Professor Tas Qureshi specialises in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and Endometriosis. He also manages other common surgical conditions laparoscopically, such as hernias & cholecystectomies.
