Professor Richard Field

Professor Richard Field is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the management of hip-related problems. He is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at St George’s University of London. His NHS clinical practice is undertaken at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC), where he was the Director of Research from 2004-2021. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery. His private practice is undertaken at The Lister Hospital in Chelsea and occasionally at SWLEOC. Professor Field is the UK’s most experienced surgeon in Direct Anterior (minimally invasive, muscle sparing) Hip Replacement and has used this approach for over 2000 patients since 2008. He uses the standard longitudinal and the less-visible bikini incisions, as appropriate. He lectures internationally and has operated with surgeons in more than 10 countries. He is a pioneer of Arthroscopic Hip surgery and was the President of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA), isha.net, in 2017. Professor Field has been actively involved in the design and evaluation of new implant designs since 1983. He is currently undertaking clinical studies on short femoral stem implants, as well as some of the new generation of hip resurfacing designs. He is comfortable using robotic-assisted surgery and patient-specific custom cutting blocks to achieve optimal component alignment, where appropriate. Patients wishing to be considered for inclusion in studies on new implants may need to be treated at SWLEOC.

Dr Carl Shakespeare

Dr Carl Shakespeare is a consultant cardiologist at St Thomas' Hospital London and was the Lead Consultant Cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich for 18 years, and a Senior Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital London. He also provides consulting services at the Blackheath, Lister and London Independent Hospitals. Dr Shakespeare received his medical degree from Westminster Medical School, the University of London in 1984, undertaking specialist training at the National Heart Hospital, St Thomas', St George's and the Royal London Hospital, becoming an accredited specialist in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology in 1995. Dr Shakespeare was awarded a British Heart Foundation Fellowship in 1989, and is the author of over 40 research publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has been the Clinical Director of the SE London Cardiac Network, Regional Advisor to the British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians.

Mr Luke Jones

Mr Luke Jones is a highly experienced and specialised consultant knee surgeon who offers bespoke knee care to his patients. He has extensive experience in all aspects of knee surgery, from minor sports injuries to complex joint reconstructions, and he takes a patient-centred approach to treatment, tailoring each plan to the individual. With over 150 joint replacements and 200 arthroscopic knee procedures performed each year, Mr Jones is a leading expert in sports knee injuries, anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, early knee arthritis, minimally invasive total knee replacement, and robotic knee replacement surgery. He is also a key opinion leader on partial knee replacement, minimally invasive knee replacement, and daycase knee replacement. Mr Jones completed his medical qualifications in London and went on to complete basic surgical training, followed by higher orthopaedic surgical training on the Oxford rotation. He also holds a PhD from Oxford University, where his research focused on early knee osteoarthritis and the role of the meniscus in the development of osteoarthritis. Additionally, Mr Jones completed two prestigious fellowships, one at Stanford University Hospital in the USA, and one at the Oxford University Hospitals Sports Knee Service. Recently, Mr Jones's practice has been recognised as a visitation centre of excellence for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, further highlighting his reputation as a leading expert in knee surgery.

Mr Barry Andrews

Mr Barry Andrews is a Consultant Knee and Trauma Surgeon. Mr Andrews is an expert in knee replacement and he is an expert in partial knee replacement. Barry Andrews can offer expert treatment for cartilage lesions, meniscal problems, ACL, PCL, and multi-ligament knee injuries. Mr Andrews can also specialise in osteotomies around the knee. Overall, Andrews is a specialist complex orthopaedic trauma surgeon which includes surgeries on periprosthetic fractures around knee replacements.

Dr. Kesavan Kandiah

Dr Kesavan Kandiah is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist who specializes in endoscopy. He sees private patients at the Parkside Hospital and is also a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at St George's University Hospital NHS Trust, where he leads the Complex Polyp Multi-Disciplinary Team and performs advanced endoscopic resections of complex colonic polyps. Dr Kandiah completed his medical training at the University of Manchester in 2006 before undertaking specialist training in gastroenterology in the North West London Deanery. In 2017, he completed an Advanced Endoscopy Research Fellowship at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, where he conducted research on advanced endoscopic detection and resection techniques. His research has been presented at national and international conferences and he has published extensively on advanced endoscopy. Dr Kandiah's main interests include advanced therapeutic endoscopy, such as the resection of large/complex colonic polyps, and endoscopy training. He is the current Training Lead for Endoscopy in St George's, which is recognized as a National Endoscopy Training Centre. He is also a National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme accredited endoscopist. In recognition of his work on advanced resection of colonic polyps, he was awarded the Marsha Dreyer Award by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2016.

Mr Richard Andrew Sankey

Andrew Sankey is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in shoulder and elbow surgery. He has an NHS practice at The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Mr Sankey completed an undergraduate degree at St John's College, Cambridge before going on to graduate from St Mary's Hospital, London. He specialised in Orthopaedics on the University College Hospital/Middlesex rotation in London. Mr Sankey has an interest in research, in particular, shoulder arthroplasty and proximal humerus fracture fixation methods. He has presented his research nationally and internationally and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. Mr Sankey has created an app to support his patients throughout their preparation for and recovery from surgery, personalised to each patient.

Dr. Alex Strachan

Dr Alexandra Strachan is an experienced General Practitioner who has expertise and confidence in managing the full range of presentations that General Practice receives. After qualifying from Imperial in 1994 with an MBBS, she worked her way through the NHS system, eventually becoming a senior partner in her practice. She has a strong background in medicine, palliative care and has also developed a particular interest in paediatrics, antenatal and postnatal care. Dr Strachan loves her work as a GP and particularly enjoys building long standing relationships with patients and supporting them with a friendly and holistic approach. She works very closely with Dr Alain Palacci to provide a 24-hours a day, seven days a week service to our registered patients, based on a common ethos of providing continuity of care. Dr Strachan lives locally in Putney with her husband and family of three children and a dog with whom she enjoys spending time with, as well as pursuing other activities including sailing, riding and trekking through the Scottish hills.

Mr Henry Colaco

Mr Henry Colaço is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in reconstructive and sports shoulder and elbow surgery and complex upper limb trauma including hand and wrist injuries. He is the Clinical Lead for Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and a founder member of the Shoulder Practice and The London Shoulder Meeting. He firmly believes in a patient-centred approach to treatment and collection of functional outcome data in order to tailor operative and non-operative techniques to the individual. When surgery is required, he uses novel techniques including awake shoulder surgery, 3D templating for joint replacement surgery, and minimally invasive techniques where possible to achieve optimal results and faster rehabilitation. He has experience of managing high profile individuals; actors, musicians, and professional athletes including footballers, Saracens, Harlequins, and England International rugby players. He has an interest in developing novel techniques of reconstructive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, including management of bone loss in shoulder instability, strategies for irreparable rotator cuff tears and biceps tendon injuries.

Mr Jerome Davidson

Mr Davidson is the Lead of the Sickle Hip Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. This is a supra-regional service managing a very complex patient group. He provides a paediatric and adolescent hip replacement service at Evelina Children’s hospital (part of GSTT). In addition, Jerome is the Regional Director for London (South) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Davidson is also one of the regional representatives for the National Joint Registry in London as a member of the NJR RCC committee. Mr. Jerome Davidson's career as a Consultant Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon is impressive and diverse. He has built a reputation for his expertise in performing complex primary joint replacements, high-risk arthroplasty, and revision surgeries. His specialization in minimally invasive total hip replacements with a focus on early rehabilitation has likely contributed significantly to the improvement of patient outcomes and recovery times. Dr. Shabana Bora

Dr Bora is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist at the Lister Fertility Clinic. She graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine, London in 2002. Following graduation she completed her postgraduate training specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North West London. She has worked at several large London teaching hospitals throughout her career. She has experience in complex problems of early pregnancy having worked as a fellow at St. George's Hospital during her career and has written several peer reviewed articles for medical journals and book chapters. She joined the Lister Fertility Clinic in 2012 as a Clinical Fellow in Gynaecology investigating women with recurrent miscarriage and problems related to reproductive immunology. She is a member of the British Fertility Society and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She has a special interest in all aspects of assisted conception, endometriosis, general gynaecology and early pregnancy complications.

Mr Vasileios Minas

Mr Vasileios Minas, PhD, MRCOG, is a Senior Surgeon and co-Director at the Centre for Endometriosis and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG) at St Peter's Hospital in Surrey, which is one of the largest Endometriosis Centres in the UK. He is a skilled Endometriosis Specialist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He provides private consultations at Nuffield Health Woking and The Runnymede Hospital, a BSGE-registered provisional Endometriosis Centre, where he also serves as the Lead Surgeon. For a period of three years, he held the position of College Tutor for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, and he was recognised for his contribution to the training of young gynaecologists. He regularly supervises and provides training to Fellows in Endometriosis surgery. Mr Osama Naji

Mr Osama Naji is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and the Lead for the Women's Rapid Diagnostics Unit at Guy's Cancer Centre. He works in a prestigious tertiary institution that is ranked first in the United Kingdom and 44th in the world. He is specialising in the early detection of gynaecological pre-cancerous conditions using advanced outpatient facilities such as ultrasound, hysteroscopy, and colposcopy, with the goal of reducing the need for major surgery. He is an expert in the field of ultrasound-guided minimally invasive procedures to treat menopause, infertility, early pregnancy, and emergency gynaecological conditions. He is known for his friendly, approachable demeanour, and as a result of his commitment to providing modern care, Mr Naji’s patients glean the benefits of his excellent clinical management with the fast diagnosis, lower risk of complications and a faster recovery. Mr Naji qualified in Baghdad, Iraq, and went on to complete his specialist training at centres of excellence in London and the West Midlands. He gained an MD from Imperial College London for developing novel methods for assessing incomplete caesarean section scar healing by ultrasound, and its' subsequent effects on early pregnancy, infertility, and menstrual bleeding abnormalities. He is an accomplished author and has several publications in the field. He currently leads on several research studies and serves as a faculty member and speaker for a number of national and international societies and conferences in both the UK and the Middle East.
